Subacute thyroiditis is a nonsuppurative inflammation of the thyroid gland. Case reports as to formation of subacute thyroiditis in patients with hepatitis C virus (HCV) and hepatitis B virus (HBV) during interferon treatment have been submitted. But there is no publication related to development of subacute thyroiditis in the patient with hepatit D virus (HDV) who used interferon. We are presenting  a subacute thyroiditis patient taking  peginterferon alfa-2a for chronic HDV in this study. Our patient is the first subacute thyroiditis patient with chronic HDV using interferon in the literature.
